Film.Maker

I found an old demo reel and watched it while Melanie was asleep.
It made me want to fall apart. I love these stupid little films so much. Its such a contradiction to the way I felt about them at the time. Ask anyone - I was a mess. I hated my work.

Now I look at them and I think - man that was borderline brilliant.

I wanted to post a voice over I wrote for one of the short films I made staring Rhea Chidley. The concept of the video was to have this sultry looking woman walking through and underground parking and when she gets to her car she pulls her bloody hands out of her pocket and wipes them clean. Its very old-school noir. Its very dramatic and its wonderful. The song behind it is "In a Sentimental Mood" by Duke Ellington/John Coltrane and I thought the name worked as a perfect title as well so i borrowed it.

"In a Sentimental Mood"

She exploded into my life like a train derailment
in the light of a fading Sunday afternoon.

Her breath was poised air - tiny inhales to exhales and motion at a quickening pace

Their bodied moved in distinct rhythm - a delirium of irrationality
And they forgot to sound the whistle as i approached the tracks

And in my haste we collided - their hands tied, backs arched
- and me with my broken heart
